Superintendent Dr. Ralph Baker symbolically passed the torch to Dr. Dale Marsden at the June 10th meeting of the Board of Trustees with Cabinet members, representatives from various schools in the district and community members present.
Dr. Baker became superintendent of VESD on July 1, 1985 and saw the district grow from 3,000 students and five schools, to over 11,600 students and 18 schools. Dr. Baker is the longest serving superintendent in San Bernardino County, and the longest serving superintendent in the history of Victor Elementary School District.
Prior to becoming superintendent, he served as principal of Hook Jr. High School, and has had administrative and teaching experience in two other districts as an assistant principal, high school athletic director, dean of students, human relations specialist and junior high and high school teacher.
Dr. Baker’s last day was Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Effective July 1, 2009 he moves on to his new position at Excelsior Education Center as Executive Director. Dr. Dale Marsden will begin on July 1 as VESD’s 5th superintendent.
